West London University Fully funded African Student Scholarships

Applicants seeking to undertake their research by conducting a three (3) year full-time study in the fields of population aging, balanced ageing, gerontology, and administration of elderly care in Africa are required to apply for a PhD.

This scholarship award is Sponsored by a collaborative research initiative in the HEPIQ-C project between the University of West London, UK and the Federal Ministry of Health.
The applicant will be required to enroll as a University of West London research student by January, 2020. This position is a full time study position where the student will be based in the United Kingdom for the full duration of the research study.

Scholarship Worth: PhD fee waiver at the international rate, Tax-free stipend of £15,000 yearly.

Application Eligibility and Selection Criteria
  • Applicants must have a good first degree in the field of health or social sciences (first or upper second class).
  • Applicants must hold a Masters degree with merit or distinction (MA, MSc, MBA, or MRes).
  • Applicants are to possess an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.5
  • Applicants are to possess a strong commitment to improving Nigerian health and well being both during and after the PhD.

Applicants are to ensure that they submit the following under-listed documents to using the heading ‘PhD Scholarship in Health and Ageing’.
  • International student application form;
  • Research proposal in the region of 1000-1500 words;
  • Sample of publications;
  • A personal statement which explains why you are interested in the scholarship
  • Transcript of your highest qualification;
  • Evidence of IELTS score.
Applicants will note that the study plan outline or research interest declaration is important and will assist in evaluating the applicant's suitability for higher degree work, including:
  • Viability of the topic as a research study
  • The most appropriate supervisor(s) to be appointed
In January, May or September, students may begin their studies.
